It feels a bit strange to even think about spring and summer today (as a blizzard rages on outside), but I wanted to share with you my spring/summer capsule wardrobe additions! I finally put my plan into action, and added eight very versatile pieces to my wardrobe. They are:
ONE: Ted Baker Kaleidoscope Skirt. I finally found the perfect floral skirt (although this is more fauna than floral)! One of my art marketing professors once told me that I seem to like art that has a lot of kaleidoscopic elements. I guess I was attracted to this skirt for the same reason. This skirt is so gorgeous and perfect. The material is wonderful, and the pattern is exactly what I was looking for (spring-y, happy, and still professional). Ted Baker is perfect for investment pieces.
TWO: Cream J Crew Factory Pleated-Hem Tee. I listed this shirt in my spring/summer capsule wardrobe vision post, and I’m glad I finally purchased it. I figured that I can wear this two ways: tucked in as a white t-shirt, or not tucked for something with a little more flair.
THREE: Black J Crew Factory Ruffle Sleeve Shirt. I know that ruffle sleeves are a little bit trendy, but I do think that this piece will be versatile for many years to come. Black may also not be the most spring-y/summer-y color, but the ruffle sleeves make the shirt very light and airy. This matches EVERYTHING in my closet, which makes it a wonderfully versatile piece. The price also can’t be beat. I recently re-discovered J Crew Factory and think that they have great, quality clothing for very reasonable prices.
FOUR: White J Crew Factory Button Down. This is something that every single person needs in their closet…and I didn’t have one. This is a classical addition, but I didn’t want to splurge because my office isn’t very formal. This is the perfect placeholder until then, and I won’t be terrified of getting it dirty.
FIVE: Black J Crew Factory Tank Top. This is the perfect tank top for layering. It is also reversible: you can wear it forward for v-neck or backward for crew-neck. Out of everything on this list, this is probably the most versatile.
SIX: White J Crew Factory Cardigan. The fabric is pretty lightweight, so I’m hoping to use this white cardigan a lot in the summer when the office gets freezing.
SEVEN: Navy Blue Ralph Lauren Girl’s Skirt. Fun fact: I am short enough to shop children’s sizes (my wallet rejoices, because they are so much cheaper!) This skirt was a measly $13, and the quality is great. I knew I needed to buy a navy blue skirt, because I have a similar fit in black and I usually wear it once a week. I thought it would be nice to have the same skirt in a somewhat lighter, neutral color. This skirt was exactly what I was looking for.
EIGHT: Navy Blue J Crew Factory Cardigan. I was in desperate need of basic cardigans. So I got two — one in white and one in blue!
I hope to make more posts on how to style each of these pieces. Thanks for reading!
