Embarrassing fact: I started doing Stitch Fix because I thought it would help me to shop online less. It didn’t work. So today I’m sharing what I’ve been shopping for spring! They’re a mix between really classic investment pieces, and other very fun colorful pieces.
Once I receive everything, I’ll post a haul/try on video.
A Striped Shirt: I previously had a very lovely navy and white striped shirt from J Crew Factory, but I wore it so much that I put a hole right through the armpit. It really wasn’t a good look. This time around, I opted for something that will probably never be worn down. And it will never go out of style, because it’s a striped shirt! How long have these things been around now? They’re like the great white shark of the fashion world. I went with the Neige-Marine Garde-Cote III St. James shirt from Tuckernuck. It’s the perfect stretchy material, and it also protects against UV rays. Shop similar styles here: save, spend, splurge.
A Silky Scarf: So, the scarf I purchased isn’t technically 100% silk, hence the “silky.” But I saw this scarf online and I absolutely could not resist its powers. It’s the Susette Scarf by Pomander Place from Tuckernuck. Look at it! It’s so bright and colorful, and I can’t wait to waltz down the street in it and gently toss one end over my shoulder. If you don’t already own a silk/silky scarf, I would highly recommend getting one (maybe two. Or three. Or four?) because they can jazz up the simplest outfit. A Leather Clutch: These are so great for parties, or travel, or just general day wear. This was one billion per cent off, and I’m a huge sucker for black crocodile-style leather — it’s just so gorgeous. If you don’t already own a clutch, don’t be that person anymore. I used to think that I would never use clutches, but the second I purchased my clutch wallet my world changed. Change your world — buy a clutch. Loafers…or colorful loafers: Lately I’m obsessed with all sorts of colorful shoes (which is why my Stitch Fix stylist sent me these). I’m particularly fascinated by the loafer trend, because loafers are also such a classic. I decided to go with bright pink. These are from H&M, so they’re very affordable but they are real suede so everyone wins! They also have the backs that can transfer the shoe down into backless, but I don’t see myself using that feature. For me, it will just be more about comfy flexible backs. A White Button Down Silky Shirt: I went with this one! Have you ever heard of The Shirt by Rochelle Behrens? If you haven’t, please do yourself a favor and visit their site right now. The best thing about them is that their shirts have secret buttons to prevent that horrible, obnoxious gap right at the bust of button down shirts. I’m not even that well-endowed, and I still get the gap. You know what I’m talking about, right? They also have every single shirt you might ever need in every color of the rainbow, and they usually release new patterns when the seasons change. This is a brand I will stick with for life. A Black Button Down Silky Shirt (or navy, if that’s your neutral): This is another Shirt by Rochelle Behrens. I have maybe 4-5 sleeveless tops in my wardrobe, and I always find myself wishing I had more in the summer. This is the year I decided to anticipate that need. Black is my color, not like Anish Kapoor with vantablack, but it just perfectly matches my hair and eyes. And this matches perfectly with my collection of skirts, so I’m happy. A Brown Leather Belt: I love cinching things — dresses, skirts, shirts, vests — and that requires a belt. While I do have a cute selection of belts (red belt, leopard belt, custom buckle belt, braided belt), I didn’t have just a regular smooth brown leather belt — this is the Polo Ralph Lauren Nappa Skinny Leather Belt. That’s a pretty consistent problem that I have: I’m prone to buying fun things and forgetting the meat and potatoes. With this belt, I’ve reached belt absolution (although I still need a wide belt, hmmm). Shop similar styles here: save, spend, splurge.
Statement Earrings: Francesa’s is always my first stop for earrings. I’ve been looking for tassel or statement earrings for two years now, and I finally decided to get these two pairs (pink here, turquoise here). Plus, their jewelry is usually buy one get one 50% off. These are such great colors (the cashier said so when I checked out, so it must be true). Shop similar styles here: save, spend, splurge.
