Blog Direction

I’ve been spending some time thinking about this blog, and the direction I want it to take. Ultimately, I would just like to share parts of my life, connect with others, and help others. It would be great to have a community here of people who are interested in fashion, health, reading, beauty, art, etc.

Blogs today are so branded! This isn’t a bad thing, because I love turning to certain fashion bloggers for their impeccable classic style, or for their minimalist wardrobe inspiration. I love looking at an Instagram feed that is uniform and beautiful. There are certain bloggers I follow who only wear a certain color palette, because that is their brand. And I freaking love it! I just don’t know if that’s my vision for this blog. I’m still developing my own sense of “brand” and self on this blog, and ultimately I’d like to have some sort of brand but I don’t want to be over branded. I’m not a brand. I’m a human being.

I’ve also noticed that blogs have become almost like miniature magazines. I’m seeing more and more posts that seem like I’ve read them before somewhere. Bloggers have their own newsletters now that really do look like online magazines! It’s amazing, and I love it but again — it’s not really me. I think what I’m trying to say is that I just want to keep it real here.

I want to write the sort of posts that I love to read. Of course I love reading shopping posts, and outfit posts, and recipes, and book reviews. But I also love reading posts about people’s lives. So that’s what I want to do here, in a nutshell! I want to connect.

Another goal of mine is to include more outfit photos! I’ve only done one real outfit post, where I went outside and Evan took photos of my outfit. We had a lot of fun doing it, and we’d like to continue! I can be insanely shy about that sort of thing, so we’ll see how that goes.

Thanks for reading! Let me know in the comments if you have any thoughts on this blog, or blogging in general.

  1. I’ve been in the same boat and talked to others about it.. I’m not “a book blogger” or “a Christian blogger” or anything specific. Rest assured that you’re not the only one who doesn’t want to be just one thing. Other people like me will appreciate the variety and realness!
