I haven’t written one of these in a while, and I’d like to jump back into these posts now that summer ~finally~ decided to show up. This week was definitely a weird one, and went by in the blink of an eye.
So I work at an art gallery on the Upper East Side. For anyone familiar with the New York City art world, you know that it essentially shuts down in the summer because the entire art-buying population leaves for less disgustingly-humid climes. The next time I have a full-day work week will be deep into July, and then we have two glorious weeks off in August. We also typically work Tuesday through Saturday during most of the year, but switch to Monday through Friday in the summer. This Saturday was our last working Saturday before summer officially kicks off. If you can’t tell, I’m SO happy about all of this!!
Wednesday was a nice day this week because we had our staff meeting at Le Pain in Central Park. It was a gorgeous day, and it was so nice to sit outside and eat a soft-boiled egg and smoked salmon. It’s one of my goals this summer to eat outside as much as possible. On Wednesday night, Evan and I had dinner with his grandma at one of our favorite Italian restaurants on the UES. I had my favorite salmon livornese and then tried their amazing lemon ice, which comes served in a lemon! It was really nice to catch up with Ev’s grandma.
On Friday night, one of Ev’s friends came and we streamed a group video game. I’m still in awe of live video games, I think because I grew up with a ton of one- and two-player games on Xbox…I’m always so amazed that it’s possible to play with people from all over the world. The game is called Quiplash and it’s like online Cards Against Humanity. Afterwards, we ordered burgers and watched Dirty Money. At this point, I started noticing that my throat was hurting again, which is so unfortunate! I ended up not feeling well at all during work on Saturday.
Sunday ended up being a nice, relaxing day. I wasn’t feeling well, so Evan and I just took a walk up to 86th Street to eat at Shake Shack and then went to the newly opened Baked by Melissa there. Besides that, we were mostly lazy and it was nice.
Today was another lazy day. I’ve only just finished food shopping for the week, and besides that I just worked on my upcoming Trunk Club post. I also spent a lot of the day just reading (finally!) and I’m in a pretty good mood. I really hope this sore throat goes away soon though! I’m so sick of being sick.
Thanks for reading!
