Review: One Year of Fab Fit Fun

Hello everyone! Today I have a massive overview of Fab Fit Fun reviews. I just finished my first full year of the subscription and, overall, I absolutely loved it. I’m taking a hiatus for a bit while I finish my leftover products, but then I’ll jump right back into it.

Pros of Fab Fit Fun

  • Value of boxes. My boxes ranged from $280-526 in value, and the cost per box is $49.99. All products are full-size. Please note that you have to pay $10-15 extra when you add additional products instead of just choosing one from each customization — but that’s still a great value and it’s definitely an option if you want more than one thing. You’ll see in my later boxes that I purchased extras from the customzations
  • Opportunity to try new brands and products and learn about what you like
  • Great for people like me who get way too overwhelmed shopping for beauty/skincare/home/etc. products
  • It’s like Christmas four times a year
  • Supports charities and women-run brands
  • Helped my skin look better

Cons of Fab Fit Fun

  • I wish they had a bit more emphasis on the “fit” part of Fab Fit Fun
  • Some of the products don’t always feel tailored to the season
  • Lots of plastic waste from packaging, though they’re trying to become more environmentally friendly as they move forward

Fall 2019 Box

Plush Ultra Soft Fringe Scarf: This quickly became my go-to scarf for the colder months. The colors and pattern match everything, and it’s super soft.

Nassif-MD Detox Pads: I used these up within the month. I loved them because they’re pre-moistened, which is helpful when you’re in a rush. You just take one out, wipe your face, and you’re good to go. I ended up liking these so much that I purchased them again as an add-on to my Summer 2020 box.

Skinvolve Body Boost Gel: This is just a nice pre-workout menthol cream that moisturizes and tones your skin. I mostly like it for the smell. I only use it for longer more intense workouts, so I still have a lot left.

Aromatherapy Associates Deep Relax Roller Ball: I put this on my pulse points before bed, or just straight-up sniff it when I’m feeling stressed out (aka all the time). It’s a very thick herbal scent, which I love, but the smell doesn’t last very long on my skin.

Aveda Damage Remedy Daily Hair Repair: This was apparently a huge fan favorite but I don’t entirely see the draw. The product is good enough — it definitely moisturizes, but it doesn’t make a massive difference in my hair. I’m also not a fan of the smell.

Harper + Ari Exfoliating Sugar Cubes in Juice Cleanse: These work, and they last forever. It probably takes 15 minutes just to use one cube in the shower, so I use a quarter at a time. They smell great and I’ll probably purchase more once I run out because they’re so effective.

Human + Kind Body Souffle: This is a solid body lotion. The smell reminds me of the old Bath & Body Works cucumber scent. It’s very refreshing.

The Better Skin Co. Lava Magik: I read that a lot of people found this exfoliant too harsh for their skin, but that wasn’t the case for me. It smells very citrus-y and I use it as a morning face wash most days. This tub lasts forever. The juice cubes, lotion, and this exfoliator are an example of how the boxes don’t always feel seasonal to me — I feel like cucumber and citrus smells are more summery.

Winter 2019 Box

UnHide Lil’ Marshmallow Blanket: This blanket is SO soft. I try not to use it frequently because I don’t want to get it dirty, so it’s my special “cozy reading day” blanket. Bluetooth Shower Speaker: I used my iPhone speaker to play music in my bathroom for years, and it’s just not loud enough. This has made getting ready in the morning so much more fun, and I also like to play relaxing music at night to wind down.

Rodial Soft Focus Glow Drops: These make your skin look dewy. I’ve found that they make a perfect face primer, and I like to wear it when I’m going makeup-less for a nice glow.

Frank Body Original Coffee Scrub: This is coffee and I love it. I can’t drink coffee but I love the smell. The packaging is cute and it’s a great morning pick-me-up. The only drawback is that it’s messy and it sort of looks like dirt — you definitely have to hose down your shower/bath after using it.

Cuccio Somatology Calm + Clean Epsom Hand and Body Wash: I loved this at first — it was so relaxing to use — but I became blind to the smell as time went on. I don’t know why that happened with this product. It’s almost like the smell was more concentrated at first.

Drybar Prep Rally Prime and Prep Detangler: I love Drybar products because of the unique but fresh smell. This is solid and I love it because it protects your hair from heat styling in addition to detangling.

MakeUp Eraser in Original Pink: Better than makeup remover wipes because you don’t have to throw it away! The only issue is that we try to minimize doing laundry because it’s so expensive here, so I need 10 more of these.

Paper Source 12 Month Rose Floral Planner: This is a gorgeous weekly planner. I wish the columns were a bit bigger.

Spring 2020 Box

This was definitely my favorite box!

West Elm Indigo Tie-Dye Bowls: I ended up just leaving these out on our kitchen counter because we use them so much. We use them for cereal, veggies and dip, yogurt, smoothies, and snacks. Fab Fit Fun actually brought these back as a “throwback” item because they were so popular in a previous box, and I’m so glad I got them this time around.

111Skin Rose Gold Radiance Booster: This product is super expensive, so I’m glad I’m able to have access to it through Fab Fit Fun. It really gives you an amazing healthy and glowing look. I use it after I put on my makeup.

Amber Sceats Double Coin Necklace: I was meaning to buy a necklace like this, so I selected this option for my box. I haven’t gotten much use out of it, though!

Stone Cold Fox Tea Towels: These are just classic and beautiful. I keep one hanging off of our oven and it makes me happy.

This Works Deep Sleep Body Cocoon: This is a lovely pre-sleep lavender body lotion. It really helps me to calm down before bed, and I think it makes me sleep better, but that could just be a placebo! Either way, it’s relaxing and smells really good.

Chic & Tonic Set of Four Silicone Straws + Brush Cleaner and Case: These are cute and they help the environment. Win-win.

Purlisse Watermelon Energizing 2-Minute Peel and Polish: I was pleasantly surprised by this product. The watermelon smells so nice, and it’s an easy and quick mask to throw on before showering. The only thing you should note is that’s it’s not a peel — just an exfoliator. I’m not sure why they call it a peel.

WEI Two-in-One Purify and Glow Mask Collection: I keep this on my bathroom counter because the packaging is so beautiful. It comes with two masks: brown sugar and golden root purifying mud. It comes with a brush that is super soft. This whole set is super indulgent.

Green Goo Hibiscus Plant-Based Body Scrub: This is my favorite product from Fab Fit Fun EVER. It smells so tropical and works well. I’m definitely buying more once I run out. I can see how the smell might be too intense for some people.

Mystery Item: Sometimes you can select “mystery items.” This time the item was the Zago Milano Cool Reactive Face Toner. It’s a bright blue cooling toner that feels really great and improves skin tone.

Summer 2020 Box

Dr. Brandt Skincare D.N.A. Triple Peptide Eye Cream: I’ve been using this every morning and night. I see an improvement in my crow’s feet.

The Lyfestyle Co. Beach Mist After Sun Spray: I took Fab Fit Fun’s recommendation and stuck this in the refrigerator. I haven’t been to the beach because of, oh I dunno, the worldwide public health crisis. But I do spray it on my face after my walks home from work through the miserably humid and uniquely disgusting atmosphere that is NYC in the summer. It’s very refreshing and cooling.

Spongelle Coconut Verbena Hand Cream: I don’t like the smell of this at all. But it makes my hands soft and the smell doesn’t last forever, so I’m using it for practical purposes.

Hydropeptide Moisture Reset Face Oil: I’ve been using this before bed lately and it’s making my skin softer. It’s definitely a heavy oil, but that sort of consistency works well with my skin so I’ve had no issues.

Winky Lux Uni-Brow Universal Eyebrow Pencil: I’ve only just started experimenting with filling in my eyebrows because I let them grow out during self-isolation so they’re sort of…wild. I had been using an eyebrow brush and dark eyeshadow, which was a little too extreme. This pencil is nice because it’s super light but definitely gives a shape.

Lashes MD Eyelash Conditioner: I use mascara almost every day so I wanted to condition my eyelashes. I swoosh it on every night as I would eyeliner, and I’ve noticed results. My lashes look thicker and more plentiful. It makes me happy.

Blaq 5 Pack Hydrogel Eye Masks & Peel Off Masks: The eye masks are very cooling, but I don’t think they do much. The mask peels off and clears out some pores but it doesn’t get everything like a regular nose/forehead strip would.

Zoe Ayla Ice Roller: I’m so obsessed with this! I used to rub ice on my face some mornings to help with inflammation, but this is so much better because the roller adds a massage element.

Cali Cosmetics Foot Cream w/ Menthol in Tarocco: This has a nice orange scent to it! It works really well and I’m happy with it.

Kate Somerville Goat Milk Moisturizing Cream: This is so good. Definitely my second favorite after the Green Goo exfoliator. It’s going to be my forever day moisturizer. It’s so light but moisturizing, and you can see the moisture on your skin after using it.

Favorite Add-Ons

Before every seasonal box goes out, you’re able to shop Fab Fit Fun’s add-on sales to add products to your box that aren’t part of the customizations. I didn’t really use this feature at first, but eventually became obsessed with it. They offer fantastic deals and it’s a great opportunity to stock up for the upcoming season.

OAUI Leave-In Conditioner: I love the OAUI texturizing spray, so I wanted to try their leave-in conditioner as well. My hair is definitely softer after using it.

Whish Beauty Rosehip and Lotus Firming Sleep Mask: I LOVE how this smells. It’s so refreshing and flower-y. I’ve only used it once but it’s very soothing and cooling before bedtime. You’re supposed to rinse it off the next morning. Looking forward to using it again tonight!

Whish Beauty Watermelon Lip Scrub and Balm Duo: I was so happy with my Purlisse watermelon mask, and I miss having my Lush lip scrubs, so I wanted to try this duo! It’s perfect and it’s something I’ll buy again when I run out — but I can tell that the scrub is going to last for a long time.

Zoe Ayla Gua Shua Therapy Duo: I’ve been using this set before bed every night to massage my hydropeptide oil into my face. I’m not sure if it really reduces wrinkles (I’ve only been using it for a week) but it’s such a nice way to wind down at the end of the day. It’s great for massaging your face muscles and promoting blood flow.

Dream EZ Dietary Supplements: I’ve ordered these twice now. I have a hard time staying asleep throughout the night, but was reluctant to try melatonin because I know some people have an issue with it. This seemed like a low risk alternative. I was really impressed the first time I tried it — one supplement knocked me out. Even when I wake up in the middle of the night, I fall asleep again immediately instead of being up for hours.

Ryan Porter Calm Down Candle (similar linked): This made me laugh!

Cloud9 Pineapple Beaded Coasters: These are so adorable and I had to have them.

Summer & Rose Judy Blueblockers: I got these because I stare at a computer screen almost all day for work and my eyes felt tired at the end of every day. I wear them frequently now, especially before bed when I’m watching TV, or on my laptop or phone. My eyes feel slightly less dry and exhausted after using them.

Summer & Rose Pumpkin Spice Soy Wax Candle: I got this as an add-on to make my fall box feel more autumnal!

And there you have it! I’m really sad that I’m taking a Fab Fit Fun hiatus, but getting back into it is something to look forward to.

Thanks for reading!
