The Lobby Review

Good morning! I hope you’re all staying safe and healthy out there. Today I’m beyond excited to share a review of The Lobby, a new online retailer that I’ve fallen in love with.

I’m a fan of the “try before you buy” model, and The Lobby allows you to select five items from their brands to try on at home. You then have 14 (!!) days to try them on, and keep what you like. You can return anything you don’t want for free. I’ve always loved clothing subscription boxes for that reason, but it’s especially important right now when it’s not safe to go shopping — it turns your home into a fitting room, which I prefer because you can try on your new items with your existing wardrobe. This is also hugely beneficial to someone like me who is 5’1″ and really needs to try things on before buying.

They have just over 50 brands, most of which are boutique (which I love). Some of them I’ve heard of, like band.do, DL1961, and Richer Poorer, but I’ve already discovered so many new brands I want to buy more from in the future like Boyish, Hher, and Matt & Nat.

Another benefit is that you can see the clothes on real people. Most of the items on The Lobby have a video showing one or multiple influencers modeling them — and they actually have diverse body types. This is what I want and need in life! I’m so sick of six-foot tall stick models! I was hesitating on buying the Boyish jeans (below), but then the model said she was 5’2″ and they actually fit her — and I had to have them. It’s the dream.

The one con is that the price points are high. I would love to shop exclusively this way, but it’s more of an investment for me so I’ll probably order five items quarterly to refresh my wardrobe. Here’s what I got:

Leset Short Sleeve Button Down in Black ($98) I’ve been searching for a simple short sleeve black button down. I immediately added this to my cart without a backward glance. It’s exactly what I’ve been looking for: comfortable, thick, high-quality, slightly cropped, and a little boxy. This is the perfect work from home top because you can throw it on over leggings for Zoom meetings, and still look put together while feeling like you’re wearing really soft pajamas. Perfect. Kept.

Almina Concept Silk Cami in Camel ($118) One of my favorite outfit formulas is a silky cami, high-waisted jeans, and a duster cardigan. All of my camisoles are closet workhorses, so I figured I might as well try investing in a new color in silk. This cami didn’t sit right, and the straps weren’t adjustable so they kept on slipping. Returned.

Boyish The Tommy in Far Country ($168) I’ve been on the hunt for this sort of lighter-wash boyfriend jean, but I could never find a pair that fit me in the waist and thighs. These jeans are perfect! They fit me like a glove. Something to note is that they have a button-up top underneath the fabric where the zip would normally be. Also, these would be full length on me — not cropped like on the model. I could wear them unrolled, but like the rolled look with boots. I know they’re on the pricier side, but I’m not exaggerating when I say I’ve been looking for a pair of jeans like this since 2015. Kept.

Hher Straight Fit Shirt in Red ($69) This is my new favorite shirt. The fabric is so light and airy, and the red is so bright. I’ve been trying to incorporate red into my wardrobe more. I have the right skin and hair tone for it, so I might as well! I’ll definitely get more colors if they come out with them. I would wear this every day if I could. Kept.

Oma the Label The Bente Hoops ($49) I really wanted a small pair of gold hoop earrings, but decided to go totally bold and get this larger size. I love these so much because they elevate any outfit. I feel sort of badass wearing them. Kept.

Thanks for reading! I’ll probably order another haul from The Lobby in 2021 to start the year off right 🙂
